Behrend Lions Soccer Opens With Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament

The Penn State Behrend women's soccer season opens with the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament on Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5 on the Behrend Fields.

"The team is looking forward to opening up our season," said first-year mentor Patrick O'Driscoll. "We have worked very hard during preseason and feel well prepared for the tournament. We are excited about defending our title against some very competitive opposition."

The Behrend Lions play Alfred on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while Hiram and Baldwin-Wallace battle at 4:00 p.m. The consolation game is set for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and the championship game is at 4:00 p.m.

Last year the Behrend Lions opened up with a pair of lopsided wins over Medaille (9-0) and Baldwin-Wallace (2-0).

The women's team is looking to build on their 12-7-1 record from last season. Behrend enters the slate with 13 veteran players and a dozen talented newcomers joining the mix.  The program's goal is to make another AMCC title run and earn another bid to a postseason tournament.
