Women's Soccer Selected Second in AMCC Preseason Poll

The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team was picked as the preseason number-two team in the league. Behrend, who finished as the AMCC runner's-up for the third time in the past four seasons to Frostburg, is looking to capture the league championship after winning the first four league titles (2000-1999-1998-1997).

"This is the second consecutive year we have been picked to come second in the league," said head coach Patrick O'Driscoll. "I feel we will have a deep team this year and should really be pushing to win the championship. As always Frostburg, Pitt-Greensburg and La Roche will be strong."

A year ago, the blue and white lost in the AMCC finals 3-2 (2 OT) to Frostburg, but advanced to the ECAC playoffs, picked up a win before bowing out to Carnegie Mellon 1-0 and posting a 14-6-1 record. The team is looking to build on their postseason experience from last season and enters the schedule with a goal of winning the 2005 league title.

AMCC play begins on September 24. The conference championship will be Saturday, November 5 at the highest remaining seed. The winner will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
