Nielson Repeats as ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week (9/20/05)

Penn State Behrend’s Dara Nielsen (Glenshaw/Fox Chapel) has been named ECAC Div. III Mid-Atlantic Region Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week.  Nielson turned in a superb performance against Carnegie Mellon when she recorded 12 saves in a 0-0 double overtime draw.  For the week Nielson held opponents scoreless for 200 minutes.

Head coach Patrick O’Driscoll said, “Dara has been outstanding in goal for us this seaon.  Earning ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week for two straight weeks is a major accomplishment.”  Over the last five games, Nielson has led a tremendous defensive effort as the Behrend Lions have yielded just a single goal in that time.  She has now registered four shutouts in six Behrend games, which has her tied for most shutouts in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

The current record for Behrend women’s soccer is 4-1-1.  Next up for the blue and white is a 4:30 p.m. home game on Tuesday, September 22 with visiting Allegheny.
