Soccer Advances to 2005 AMCC Tournament Championship Game

The women's soccer team travels to Frostburg State on Saturday, November 5, for a 2:00 p.m. showdown for the 2005 AMCC Championship after defeating Pitt-Greensburg 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon. Frostburg advanced after beating La Roche 4-0.

Behrend opened the scoring when senior forward Heather Crawford (Aliquippa/Hopewell) connected on an unassisted goal at 27:14 of the first half. Kara Struski (Meadville/Meadville) hit for what proved to be the game-winner one minute, thirty-two seconds into the second period. UPG's Rachael Katsur cut into the lead on a pass from Jen McIntosh, but Holly Greiner's (McKean/General McLane) fourteenth goal of the season at the 74:42 mark sealed the victory. Behrend is now
14-2-3.

The Behrend Lions out-shot the Bobcats 20-7, and Behrend's goalkeeper Dara Nielsen (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) made five saves.

Behrend is the number-two seed and will battle the host and top-seeded Frostburg Bobcats. Behrend and FSU tied 0-0 during the regular season meeting in Erie. This will mark the seventh time these two program's have met with the league title on the line. Behrend won the first four league championships, before Frostburg managed to win the next four.
