Behrend Women's Soccer Battles with Frostburg to Scoreless Tie, Frostburg Advances to NCAA Tournament Via 4-3 Win on Shootouts

The number-two seeded Behrend women's soccer team battled with number-one Frostburg State (11-5-3) for 110 minutes of scoreless action before finally succumbing to a 4-3 penalty kick shootout showdown that would prove to be enough to move Frostburg on to the NCAA tournament.  Behrend out shot Frostburg 12-11 and each goalie tallied six saves in the regulation shutout.

This marked the second straight year that Behrend and Frostburg State have squared off for the AMCC crown, and the seventh time overall that the two teams have competed for the title.  Of the eight AMCC titles, Behrend won the first four before Frostburg managed to win the next four.  Last year, Behrend fell to the Bobcats 3-2 in double-overtime.  The two teams met once this season, playing to a 0-0 tie. Frostburg State has won an AMCC record five straight league championships.

Behrend is now 14-2-4 and awaits word on Monday about an ECAC Tournament bid.
