Women's Soccer Drops Second Game to Thomas More, Calvin Tournament Champions

The Behrend women's soccer team fell 1-3 at the hands of Thomas More, Saturday, September 16.  Beth Manganaro (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) had Behrend's only goal, a blast that came of a rebound off the crossbar.  The women finish at 1-1 in the tournament and drop to 2-2-1overall.

Behrend fell behind early, as Kari Poling struck the net just 5:55 into the game.  Poling would score again thirty minutes later to put Thomas More up 2-0. Thomas More finishes the tourney at 1-1.

Shot totals and corners were close,  Behrend outshot Thomas More eight to seven, and each team tallied just one corner kick.

The refs were busy throughout the game, handing out a total of five yellow cards and one red card.

Calvin College finished off Westminster 2-0 in the tournament's other game of the day.  Calvin goes 2-0 in the tournament and was crowned the tournament champions.

Next up for the women will be a trip to Case Western for a 7:00 p.m. match up on September, 19.
