Women's Soccer Rides a Six-Game Win Streak Heading into the Second Half of the Conference Schedule

The Behrend women’s soccer team heads into the home stretch of their conference schedule boasting a flawless 6-0 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference record.  The women have allowed just one goal in conference play and are climbing up the national rankings in several defensive categories.

The Behrend defense has been virtually impenetrable, shutting out five of their last six opponents and outscoring the competition 27-1 during that stretch.  Freshman goalkeeper Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) has enjoyed a great first-year, allowing just nine goals while ringing up 74 saves and logging in over 1,000 minutes between the posts.

"I feel we have a very balanced team this year," said coach O'Driscoll.  "Our backs have been doing a great job of limiting opposition's opportunities and we also have a lot of dangerous attacking players who create problems for the other teams."

With a total of nine shutouts, Behrend has cracked the top-20 national rankings for most shutouts among division III teams.  The women are also ranked in goals against average, giving up a stingy 0.69 goals per game as well as fewest goals allowed, with nine.

On the offensive end, sophomore Nikki Frisbee (Valencia/Mars) has consistently broke down opposing defenses, registering seven goals and seven assists on the season.  Beth Manganaro (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) has also found the net seven times, while Whitney Putnam (Erie/Villa Maria) has chipped in with six.

Behrend brings their 9-3-1 overall record to Frostburg State on Saturday, October 15 before returning home to square off against the Hilbert Hawks on October 18.
