Behrend Women Edge Out La Roche, Move on to AMCC Championships
The first half saw just 10 total shots as much of the action took place around midfield, both teams went into the break at zero. Katie Ritchey (Butler/Butler) broke the scoreless tie in the second half, when she lofted a shot from the left wing that sailed over Redhawk goalkeeper, Tracy Sims. La Roche would claw back with a Candice Jenkins blast that found net in the fifty-sixth minute of the contest. However, Ritchey would strike again with just fifteen minutes left, putting Behrend up 2-1. Whitney Putnam (Erie/Villa Maria) would add one late on a breakaway that iced the game, 3-1. The game came to an end with Behrend outshooting La Roche 13-8 and winning the battle of cornerkicks, 3-2. "We are excited to be going back to the championship game," said head coach Patrick O'Driscoll. "We will be preparing hard over the next few days to win this final game of the conference tournament." This will be the ninth year out of a total of ten that Behrend has been in the AMCC championship round.
