Behrend Loses
2-0 to Finish Out Tournament The game was tied 0-0 throughout most of the first half, when Alison Lewis (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) broke the stale mate in the 44th minute. The Behrend lions began to fire back in the second half, until Melissa Beale (Penfield, NY/Penfield) netted an unassisted goal to bring the score to 2-0. The Geneseo Blue Knights out-shot the blue and white 13 - 10. Goalkeeper Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) recorded nine saves for the day. The last game of the day was the championship match which featured the Baldwin-Wallace Yellow Jackets against the St. Vincent BearCats. The teams went scoreless in the first half, until halfway through the second St. Vincent struck first with a goal by Shelly Teems (Harrison City/Penn Trafford). But Baldwin-Wallace answered with only six minutes left with a goal from Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted, OH/Magnificat) to send the game into overtime. Five minutes into the first overtime period, St. Vincent was awarded a penalty kick. Midfielder Alex Shasko (North Huntingdon/Norwin) stepped up and scored the winning goal for St. Vincent, making them tournament champions. Alex Shasko was named tournament MVP. Next the blue and white will travel to Dickinson college for the Dickinson Classic tournament on September 8 and 9. First up they will take on DeSales at 2:30 p.m. and then Dickinson the following day at 12:00 p.m.
