Women's Soccer Handles La Roche 1-0, Move to 3-0 in AMCC

The Behrend Women's Soccer team hosted the La Roche Red Hawks on Saturday, September 29 at the Behrend Fields.  The women were looking to remain unbeaten in conference play this season.

The Behrend Lions looked poised and ready for action as the game began.  The women dominated the first half, having a number of scoring opportunities, keeping the ball in La Roche's end most of the half.  Despite out shooting the Red Hawks 12-4, the score remained 0-0 as the first half came to a close.

Keeping consistent with the beginning of the game, the women continued to pound La Roche's defensive zone with a slue of scoring chances.  Then in the 50th minute, freshman Krista Jones (Leechburg/Kiski) broke the scoreless tie.  The women fought hard throughout the rest of the second half and held La Roche off.

The blue and white out-shot the Red Hawks 24-7.  Goalkeeper Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) recorded 7 saves on the day.  The women now move to 3-0 in the AMCC conference and 4-5-2 overall.

Next up for the women, they will host the Lake Erie Strom on Wednesday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. on the Behrend fields.  This will be the fourth AMCC match for the blue and white this season.
