Women's Soccer Looks to Defend Title in AMCC Tournament

The Penn State Behernd women's soccer team looks to defend its 2006 AMCC title and add one more to the list.  The women went undefeated in the conference, finishing with a  8-0-1 record in the regular season conference play and are currently 9-6-3 on the year.  The women defeated long time rival Frostburg State for the first time in five years, ultimately leading to the women finishing on top in the AMCC regular season. 

"We are happy to secure home field advantage throughout the tournament, " said fourth year coach Patrick O'Driscoll.  The women had a rough start to the season, but coach O'Driscoll is confident in his team as they go into the tournament.  "I feel we have carried more momentum toward the end of the season and hope it will continue into the semifinal game, " said O'Driscoll.  "We know we have to be at our best in the post season to win."

The women have been playing great soccer.  They have out-scored their opponents 33-21 in the regular season, while only giving up about a goal a game on avearge. 

The Behrend Lions received a bye for the first round and will play the #5 La Roche Redhawks on Halloween, Wednesday October 31 @ 12:30 p.m. at the Behrend fields.  The winner will advance to the championship game to be played Saturday, November 3.  The AMCC champion will receive an automatic bid to the Division III NCAA Tournament.
