All-Conference Women Soccer Teams Announced, Frisbee Named Player of the Year

The AMCC announced the 2007 All-Conference team selections.  Penn State Behrend's Nikki Frisbee (Valencia/Mars) was named the 2007 player of the year.  "Nikki has had another great year for us," said fourth year coach Patrick O'Driscoll.  "Her goals from the midfield have been valuable for us this year." Frisbee has had an impressive season, scoring 12 goals and tallying four assists so far this season, with NCAA tournament play left for the blue and white.  "I am really proud that she has been given this award," added O'Driscoll.  "This is a great achievement for her and our program as a whole."

A number of other Behrend players were selected for first and second All-Conference teams.  Senior defender Emily Rogan (Bethal Park/Bethal Park) was selected to the first-team for the second year in a row, while goalkeeper Kayla Frost was also named to the first-team after being selected to the second-team last season.  Rogan and Frost's hard-work and talents have stopped opponents from scoring many goals this season.

Three more outstanding Behrend athletes were selected for the AMCC Second-team all-Conference.  Making their first appearance on the all-Conference teams is junior midfielder Kim Chapman (Cranberry/Seneca Valley, senior defender Katie Ritchey (Butler/Butler) and senior forward Danielle Demay (Bethal Park/Bethal Park).

Rounding out the list of honors for the blue and white was junior midfielder Beth Manganaro (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) who received an honorable mention nomination.  "We have many talented players in our program and they all deserve these accolades," said O'Driscoll.

The blue and white are now gearing up for the 2007 NCAA tournament.  "It is a great time of year for our program," said O'Driscoll.  "We have alot of players on the roster who were involved in the 2006 NCAA tournament match.  This experience will help us prepare for this year's game."  The women will take the field again on Friday, November 9 when they travel to Springfield, OH and take on the Wittenberg Tigers in first round play in the NCAA tournament.  Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
