MATH OPTIONS FOR GIRLS

Math Options Career Day 2009 was held on Tuesday, May 12th -- celebrating our 13th year!

Welcome to the Math Options program, a math, science, technology, 2008 Math Options Career Dayengineering, and business career day for seventh- and eighth-grade girls.

This program, an outreach service of Penn State Erie, The Behrend College's Continuing Education department, has been designed to provide information on careers in mathematics, engineering, technology, and the sciences to young women at a time when they are making important academic decisions. Girls from schools in Erie, Crawford, Potter, Venango, and Warren counties attend the Math Options program.

On May 12, 2009 Continuing Education hosted the 13th annual Math 2008 Math Options Career DayOptions Career Day. Nearly 250 female students from forty-one Pennsylvania schools experienced interactive workshops while meeting women and men who work in STEM fields.  Our keynote speakers, Anne Eisert, Manager, Engineering Service Productivity for GE Transportation, Amelia Segal, Meteorologist for WJET/WFXP Erie, and Jessica Schubert, Psychology Student from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, shared experiences and highlights from their own academic and professional careers.
