High Aspirations is a Penn State outreach program that links grade school and university professors and researchers. High Aspirations has been designed to help students achieve their full academic success, while helping teachers create a new curriculum that will benefit all students.

You will find information on future careers, links to fun classroom activities, possible job opportunities, and different ways to teach grades K-12 at this site. Some of the topics covers include:

  • How society, culture, peers, and the media shape gender roles
  • How gender roles affect individual career choices
  • Why girls start to lose interest in some subjects
  • Why fewer women choose engineering or technology fields
  • Why this issue is important to all teachers - K-12
  • How the Internet can be used to get in touch with professionals who can act as role models and guide students along new paths

For more information about High Aspirations, please e-mail Dawn Blasko or call (814) 898-6081.
