AALBORG INDUSTRIES ENDOWS SCHOLARSHIP AT BEHREND
Aalborg Industries, an international supplier of heat recovery steam generators, marine boiler systems, thermal fluid heat systems, heat exchangers, and inert gas systems, has given a $50,000 gift to create the Aalborg Industries, Inc. Scholarship Endowment at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.
Four Penn State Behrend students have completed internships at Aalborg, which is located in Knowledge Park at Penn State Erie, and seven more are currently interning there.
"This endowment gift builds on a previous annual scholarship given by Aalborg," said Dr. Christopher Reber, associate provost for Advancement at Penn State Behrend. "We are enormously grateful to Aalborg for making this a permanent endowment, and we are delighted at their encouragement and support for Behrend students. The University values highly its partnership with Aalborg Industries, the first tenant in Knowledge Park at Penn State Erie."
"Aalborg has a strong interest in keeping talented local students in northwestern Pennsylvania after they graduate from college," said David Zurn, vice president offinance for Aalborg Industries. "This scholarship is one way that we have chosen to further that interest."
Full-time juniors in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology or the School of Business at Penn State Behrend will be eligible for the Aalborg Scholarship. Candidates must have a 3.0 or better grade point average and the desire to seek employment in northwestern Pennsylvania following graduation.
Additional contributions to this scholarship may be made by interested persons or organizations. For more information about this and other scholarships, call the Penn State Behrend Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at (814) 898-6100 or check the college's Web site at www.pserie.psu.edu.
