BEHREND OFFERS NEW MASTER'S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will present an information session on Thursday, June 22, at 5:30 p.m. for those interested in learning more about the College's new master's degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering (M.Eng.). The session is planned for Room 114 of the Reed Union Building.

"We will have admissions representatives on hand as well as faculty in the program," said Jane Brady, assistant director of admissions and financial aid. "This will be a good opportunity for potential students and employers to learn how this graduate program can meet the needs of working professionals in the tri-state area." Brady noted that classes for the master's in manufacturing systems engineering will be offered in the late afternoon and evening, allowing students to pursue the degree on a part-time basis.

"Part-time students will be able to complete the master's in engineering in three years," said Brady. "Those attending full time should finish in one and one-half years."

The core courses of the master's degree in manufacturing systems engineering concentrate on the structure and operation of a manufacturing business. They are geared toward integrating the latest technologies into the manufacturing environment and in reinforcing the latest quality practices currently being adopted by manufacturers.

Faculty for the master's in engineering program are drawn from both the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology and the School of Business. Eighty percent of the engineering faculty have five or more years of hands-on industry experience.
