BEHREND'S CORTY RECEIVES TEACHING AWARD

Dr. Eric M. Corty, associate professor of psychology at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has received the 2001 Alumni Teaching Fellow Award for Outstanding Teaching. He will receive the award at the Faculty/Staff Awards Recognition ceremony at University Park on Monday, March 26.

This university-wide award was established in 1985 to recognize distinguished teaching and to provide a forum for encouraging effective teaching. Only tenured faculty with at least five years of teaching experience at Penn State are eligible for the award.

"Dr. Corty's students and colleagues have always recognized his teaching skill," said Dr. Clare Porac, director of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend. "I am pleased that Penn State has honored him for his work."

The Alumni Teaching Fellow Award is made possible by the Penn State Alumni Association. Recipients of the award are asked to share their talents and expertise with others throughout the University system. Yearlong responsibilities may include such activities as participating in workshops and symposia, giving lectures or presentations on teaching techniques for new faculty and graduate assistants, taking part in discussions or seminars with students in the Schreyer Honors College, or teaching honors courses.
