BEHREND WELCOMES NEW COUNCIL OF FELLOWS MEMBERS

Three regional business leaders have been appointed to the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows, a sixty-member group that advises the college's leadership in the area of strategic planning, with a particular emphasis on economic development.

Michael S. Chesley, plant manger for the two Dana Brake Parts, Inc. manufacturing facilities in Erie, has joined the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows. He is responsible for all production, maintenance, and engineering activities at both Dana locations. Chesley earned a B.S. in electrical engineering technology and an M.B.A. from Penn State Behrend, and is a Dana Certified Supervisor and a QS9000/ISO9002 Internal Auditor. Chesley serves on the Board of Director for the Community Nursing Services of North East and on the Board of Directors for the Dana Foundation.

Karen Burton Horstman, vice president of finance at Burton Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., has joined the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows. She is responsible for all financial aspects of Burton Funeral Homes in multiple locations throughout Erie County. Horstman earned a B.S. in accounting at Penn State University Park and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Erie, the Junior League, the Bayview Toastmasters, and the Ophelia Project.

Scott McCain, president and CEO of Erie Concrete and Steel Supply Company, has joined the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows. His company wholesales and distributes steel products to machine, tool and die, forging, and capital equipment industries. McCain earned a B.S. in finance from Penn State's Smeal College of Business and is a member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He has served as president of the Steel Service Center Association of Buffalo and is treasurer of the McCain Foundation. McCain is member of the Erie Rotary Club and the Board of Corporators for both Hamot Medical Center and St. Vincent Health Center. He has worked with the Gertrude Barber Center and the Erie Zoological Society on capital fund drives.
