SMITH CHAPEL AND CARILLON
EARN ARCHITECTURAL RECOGNITION

The Larry and Kathryn Smith Chapel and the Floyd and Juanita Smith Carillon at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, have been selected to appear in the 2003 American School and University Architectural Portfolio issue. Judges for the issue selected 207 projects from across the United States to be profiled in the November publication, a sourcebook used all year by administrators at schools and universities across the country.

"This is a wonderful tribute to the design excellence of the Smith Chapel and Carillon," said Dr. Jack Burke, campus executive officer and dean of Penn State Erie. "I congratulate Noelker and Hull, the architects who designed the building, on this recognition."

The Larry and Kathryn Smith Chapel was dedicated in June 2002. It is a multi-faith chapel available to students, faculty, and staff for worship, meetings, concerts, and gatherings. The college will dedicate the chapel's pipe organ, given by the Smiths in honor of their children, Colleen and Kevin, on
November 8.
