10-10-03 SALLY NEMETH'S HOLY DAYS The Studio Theatre at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will present Holy Days, a play by Sally Nemeth, beginning Friday, October 24 at 8:00 p.m. with performances continuing through October 25, 29, 30, 31, and November 1. Sunday performances on October 26 and November 2 will begin at 5:00 p.m. Playwright Sally Nemeth captures her audiences with her story of a family's ability to remain resilient in the midst of a crumbling world, as they struggle to deal with the tragic death of their only son and to save their farm from the Midwest dustbowl storms that claimed him. "Holy Days is far more than exploration for the 1930s dust bowl," said Dr. Christine Mangone, lecturer in theatre at Penn State Behrend and director of the production. "It's an exploration of hope, faith, strength, and nobility of character. The way the characters treat one another and strive for a better life proves inspiring, regardless of the era." The Chicago Sun-Times describes Nemeth's work as "an enduring tribute to human resilience and survival . A profoundly poetic rendering of anguish lives refusing to cave in to the forces of nature." Tickets for Holy Days will be available starting Monday, October 13. Prices are $5 for general admission and $3 for students. Reservations are available by calling the Reed Union Building Information Desk at 814-898-6242. Editors: Dr. Mangone can be reached at 814-898-6304 or be e-mail at cbm11@psu.edu. Contact:
