PENN STATE BEHREND CHILD CARE CENTER
CELEBRATES 10 YEARS

Penn State Behrend's Child Care Center will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its opening on Wednesday, September 17, with an open house from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the center. The Center is located at 5450 Merwin Lane in Knowledge Park.

"The Child Care Center has cared for more than 800 children over the past ten years," said Eunice Moore, director of the center. "The staff has had the privilege of knowing many wonderful children and families and of watching the center develop a strong tradition of high-quality child care." The center currently serves ninety-one children between the ages of six weeks and six years.

The center moved from its previous location at 5650 Station Road in 2002 to accommodate construction of the new East Side Parkway. Children took easily to the center's new 8,600-square-foot building in the wooded Knowledge Park setting. In addition to two rooms each for infants, toddlers, and pre-school students, it also includes a multipurpose room, a research and conference room, and an office for the director. Several parents installed fencing to create an outdoor play area for the children.

"This building was designed specifically for the children," said Ken Miller, director of Student Affairs at Penn State Behrend, who oversees the center. "It's theirs right down to the pint-sized plumbing. It is a bright and cheerful location for both children and staff, and we look forward to serving children in this area for years to come. "
