PENN STATE BEHREND TO HOST ALUMNI WELCOME WEEKEND 2004

Penn State Behrend's 21,000 alumni have been invited to return to campus for the Alumni Welcome Weekend on Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26. The celebration is held in conjunction with Parents and Families Weekend and the Behrend Lions Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner. A full weekend of events for the whole family is planned.

The weekend begins on Friday with a welcome at the Reed Union Building Wintergarden. In the evening, hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served at an alumni reception in the Logan House. Astronomy enthusiasts can attend Dr. Robert Knacke's lecture on the Cassini-Huygens Mission to Saturn in Science 101 Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. Mentalist Wayne Hoffman will perform mental tricks and illusions in Bruno's Café Friday at 9:00 p.m.

Saturday starts bright and early with a guided tour of campus followed by a carillon recital performed by Dr. Dan Frankforter, and an old fashion picnic in the Wilson Picnic Grove. The rest of the day includes tours of Behrend's arboretum, a horse-drawn trolley ride through campus, and an afternoon jazz concert. The family fun carnival and ice cream social will feature activities for everyone and scoops of delicious Penn State Creamery ice cream. That evening Erie Hall will be transformed into the South Pacific for the Aloha Luau Dinner.

Sunday morning both Protestant and Catholic services will be offered in the Smith Chapel. The weekend culminates with the alumni brunch in the elegant Logan House hosted by CEO and Dean Jack Burke.

Registrations are still being accepted. To register for the reunion and for a complete listing of events, visit the alumni web site at pennstatebehrend.psu.edu/alumni/alumni.htm.
