Alumni Reunion Set for September 30-October 2
Anyone who attended Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, since its beginning in 1948 is invited back to campus to participate in the 2005 Alumni Reunion, planned for the weekend of September 30 through October 2. In addition to special welcomes for the classes of 1955, 1985, and 2000, the event will include a Pioneer Reunion, made up of those who attended and share special memories of Behrend’s first decade, 1948 to 1958.
The Alumni Reunion is held in conjunction with Parents and Families Weekend, so there are programs planned for all ages. The weekend includes opportunities for walking tours of the campus, arboretum tours, horse-drawn trolley rides, golf, an afternoon jazz concert, a tour of wineries along the shores of Lake Erie, a “State-Fair” style midway and picnic, a “Round-Up” Family Dinner, and more.
“The board of the Behrend Alumni Society has been working for months to plan an event that everyone will enjoy,” said alumni relations coordinator Rebecca Grimaldi. “This is a weekend that offers not only Behrend hospitality, but family fun as well.”
Several alumni groups have planned gatherings on Saturday, including resident assistant alumni, political science alumni, and School of Science alumni. In recognition of the program’s twenty-five years, the communications alumni will celebrate their silver anniversary reunion.
Alumni will have the opportunity to see Behrend’s soccer, volleyball, tennis, softball, and baseball teams in action on Saturday afternoon and enjoy an Athletics All-Sport Tailgate under the tent at the playing fields. Another highlight of the weekend is the Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner, planned for Saturday, October 1, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Reed Union Building’s McGarvey Commons.
