WACONGO brings African song and dance to Behrend on Feb. 8

WACONGO group photoWACONGO Dance Company brings the ancestral drumming, music, and dance of the Democratic Republic of Congo to Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, Feb. 8, as part of the college’s observance of African-American History Month.

This celebration of central African song and dance will begin at noon in the Wintergarden of the Reed Union Building. It is free and open to the public.

WACONGO has toured Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Its repertoire explores music from 400 ethnic groups, including Luba, Mongo, Kongo, Mbala, Chokwe, Pende, Kuba, and Mbunda.
