French Carillonneur Final Performer for Smith Series Charles Dairay, appointed carillonneur for the town of Orchies, France, will conclude the Smith Carillon Series at Penn State Behrend with a performance on Thursday, July 27. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Seating will be on the lawn of the John M. Lilley Library, so concertgoers are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Refreshments will be served. Dairay studied carillon in both France and Belgium, and has won prizes in carillon competitions in France, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, and the United States. He has performed from carillon towers in Russia, Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands, German, France, and Switzerland, and at classical and folk festivals using a traveling carillon. In addition to his duties in Orchies, he is assistant carillionneur in Saint-Amand Les Eaux, France.
