Graduating Seniors Give Penn State Behrend an A According to the 2005-06 senior survey at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, 97 percent of graduating seniors would recommend Penn State Behrend to a friend considering college. The annual survey is given to a random sample of graduating seniors to obtain feedback on a wide array of issues, including quality of faculty, academics, residence life and athletics. “At Penn State Behrend, we recognize that we can always strive to improve,” said Jack Burke, chancellor. “This survey gives us valuable comments and data from those who know us best, our graduating students and newest alumni.” Along with the high mark in recommendations, 94 percent were confident they made the right decision in choosing to come to Penn State Behrend; and 92 percent were satisfied with their interaction with faculty. Seniors also were able to provide comments through the survey, including some unsolicited praise. “Penn State Behrend is a great college. It is a small college where everyone—students and faculty—know your name. It is great to know I can approach my professors from all semesters, ask them for help, and know that they will give it to me,” one graduating senior said. Other areas which saw increases in satisfaction versus last year included residence life, health and wellness, police services, and the quality of food service. The graduates also were pleased with the assistance and advice they received from Penn State Behrend’s Career Development Center, with an increase of more than 10 percent in students’ satisfaction of the services provided by the center. Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, offers 31 baccalaureate, five associate, four pre-professional and two graduate degree programs with 20 minors to more than 3,700 students. Focused on providing a student-centered environment, Penn State Behrend is the link that connects its students to a major research and land-grant institution on a campus enriched by more than 90 clubs and organizations, 21 NCAA varsity teams, 19 intramural sports and modern facilities.
