Annual Fund-raiser Brings Penn State Creamery to Erie

The Penn State Behrend Alumni Society is offering Erie residents two opportunities to delight in Penn State’s Berkey Creamery ice cream this summer. The legendary Creamery ice cream, which is so fresh that only four days elapse from cow to scoop, is available in a range of 14 flavors and three sizes for the two events. Proceeds from the annual fund-raiser benefit the Penn State Behrend Alumni Scholarship Fund.

August 6 deadline for half-gallon orders: The Society is currently taking orders for its 2007 half-gallon fund-raiser, “A Taste of Penn State.” Creamery ice cream is available in 14 flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, bittersweet mint, peachy Paterno, butter pecan, peanut butter swirl, death by chocolate, cookies and cream, coconut chip, cookie dough, WPSX coffee, Bavarian raspberry crunch, and orange vanilla sundae.

Half-gallons are $8 each or, on orders of three or more gallons, $7 each. Orders are due by Monday, August 6, and can be picked up on Saturday, August 25, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Intermodal Transportation Complex, located at the Bayfront Highway and Holland Street.

To place an order, visit behrend.psu.edu/alumni/icecreamorderform2007.pdf to download a PDF of the Creamery ice cream order form. Once completed, orders can be placed via mail, fax, or phone. Call 814-898-6159 for more information.

August 17-19 at CelebrateErie: Visit the Penn State Behrend Alumni Society booth in Perry Square during this year’s CelebrateErie for Creamery ice cream in two sizes—pints or Dixie cups. Pint flavors will include vanilla, chocolate, peachy Paterno, cookies and cream, cookie dough, and death by chocolate. Dixie cup servings will feature with vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, peachy Paterno, and fudge ripple.

Since its inception in 1987, the Penn State Behrend Alumni Society has developed a variety of programs and activities for alumni to continue their relationship with the college. The society organizes the annual reunion and networking events, facilitated the creation of an endowed scholarship to provide students with another source of financial aid, and serves as a resource for alumni, faculty and staff alike.
