“Adults Only” Admissions Open House Adults considering starting college or returning to their studies are invited to an “adults only” undergraduate admissions open house at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, on Wednesday, March 28. The open house begins at 5:30 p.m. with a one-hour exhibit fair in the Reed Union Building McGarvey Commons, followed by a seminar on admissions and financial aid and an applications workshop. “Adult students have needs that are different from our traditional-student population,” Biddy Brooks, director of the college’s Center for Adult Students, said. “This open house covers the issues adults ask about most frequently, such as child care, credit transfer, reenrollment, financial aid, and tuition payment options.” Representatives from student-support service offices and faculty from each of the college’s four academic schools will be on hand to answer questions and discuss learning and career opportunities. Enrollment in any of the college’s 31 baccalaureate majors or five associate degree programs is open to new or returning adult students, and applications are now being accepted for Penn State Behrend’s new associate degree in nursing program. As a convenience, new admissions applications and Penn State reenrollment applications will be accepted at the open house. “We even waive the application fee, which is $50 for new applications and $20 for reenrollments,” Brooks said. “For many students, we’ll be able to offer conditional admission on the spot.” There is no charge to attend the open house or obligation to apply. To register to attend, phone 814-898-6700 or e-mail BehrendAdultCtr@psu.edu. You also can register online.
