"I Dream of Microwaves" Author Giving Campus Reading
Fiction writer Imad Rahman will give a public reading from his works on Thursday, October 25, as part of the Creative Writer’s Speaker Series at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Rahman will read at 6:00 p.m. in the Larry and Kathryn Smith Chapel; a reception for him will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel’s ground-floor meeting room. Both events are free and open to the public. A native of Karachi, Pakistan, Rahman immigrated to the United States to attend college and currently is an assistant professor of English at Kansas State University. He is a former McCreight Fiction Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing whose first book, a collection of connected stories called "I Dream of Microwaves," was published in 2004 by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux. Penn State Behrend’s annual Creative Writer’s Speaker Series is produced by the college’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences with support from the Clarence A. and Eugenie Baumann Smith Fund.
