Alumni Reunion to Showcase Regional Flavor with Wineries Tour

For an enjoyable afternoon getaway, alumni of Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, are invited to visit two favorite North Coast wineries during this year's Alumni Reunion on September 29. Participants will have the opportunity to get together with former classmates while enjoying a tour of establishments owned by members of the Penn State Behrend family.

"The local wineries are a treasure in northwest Pennsylvania and we're thrilled to be able to showcase them again this year," said Margie Taylor, director of development and alumni relations. Now in its third year, the annual wineries tour is a favorite among returning alumni.

The first stop will be Arrowhead Wine Cellars, which boasts one of the region's largest winery gift shops featuring unique gifts from around the world. The tour will then move on to Presque Isle Wine Cellars, located in a beautiful wooded area beside Twelve Mile Creek. A variety of local favorites will be available to sample at the wineries, both known for producing award-winning wines.

While the tours are not strictly guided, information will be readily available along with staff members happy to explain the aspects of wine-making.

The tours will depart from the Reed Union Building at Penn State Behrend at 3 p.m. While there is no fee, reservations may be made at www.behrend.psu.edu/alumni/Reunion07.htm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Attendance reservations should be made by Saturday, September 15.
