Faculty/Staff News of Note January 2001 Dr. Bill Baxter, associate professor of physics, attended Dynamics Days 20001 Conference and Workshop January 2-6 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Welcome to new maintenance and operations employees Annie L. Burnett and Jane M. Finn. Burnett came to Penn State Behrend on September 10 and Finn on November 12. Dr. Michael Campbell, associate professor of biology, attended the Plant & Animal Genome IX Conference January 13-17 in San Diego, California. While there he presented two posters: Genetic Diversity of Black Cherry, Prunus Serotina, Using Microsatellite DNA Markers; and Characterization of a Subpopulation of Ambystoma Maculatum Based on Mitochondrial Sequence. Ruth Pflueger, coordinator of the Learning Resource Center, had an article about Penn State Erie's first international internships published in the December 200 issue of Penn State's International Mosaic. Dr. Scott E. Pincikowski, lecturer in German and humanities, attended the Modern Languages Association conference December 27-30. While there he presented a paper, "Female Pain-Female Eroticism: The Eroticization of the Female Body in Pain in Hartmann von Aue's Courtly Epics." Dr. Pradeep Singh, assistant professor of statistics, attended the International Conference on Statistics, Combinatorics, and Related Areas at the Indian Institute of Technology December 15-30 in Bombay, India. While there he presented a paper, "MANOVA in the Presence of Random Subject Effects." Dr. Gary A. Viebranz, lecturer in music, attended the International Association of Jazz Educators Conference in New York City January 10-13. Several members of the Penn State Behrend mathematics faculty traveled to the joint meetings of the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America held in New Orleans, Louisiana, January 10-13. Those attending included Dr. Paul Becker, Paul Olson, Dr. Joseph Paullet, Dr. Joseph Previte, Michelle Previte, and Dr. Rich Stankewitz.
