Even though Behrend is a small school, it has tons of opportunities for everyone. With the current number of clubs, fraternities, and varsity sports there is something to keep everyone busy. And if you have an interest in something that isn't offered, then you can create your own club easily.
When Somer Stankey graduated from a small high school (53 people in her class), she was looking for a small college to start her undergraduate years.
“Behrend seemed like a good place to start a Penn State degree,” she said. “Then I liked it so much I stayed all four years.”
Somer’s favorite class has been Management 440. “I learned the most, was really interested in the subject matter, and had the best teacher, Dr. Peg Thoms.”
For Somer, her Behrend experience has included cheerleading along with her course work in the Black School of Business.
“I am the president of the cheerleading squad. It has helped me grow as a leader and I have gained valuable relationships with my teammates and the staff at the Junker Center,” she said. “My four years at Behrend have allowed me to make some really great friends and get to know tons of people.”
Somer even continued her Behrend experience by going for her MBA in the Black School of Business.
Given the choice, would she attend Behrend again?
“Yes,” she said. “I have enjoyed my experiences here and have no regrets about not transferring to University Park or to a different school.”
