Zoë Rose
Class of 2005
Political Science
State College, Pennsylvania
Even with only 4,000 students, there is Penn State spirit and pride throughout the campus. Many of the professors and administrators that I have met are alumni and give you a unique perspective on their experiences during college. There is a friendly environment which allows students to prosper both in and outside of the classroom.
Big universities did not appeal to Zoe Rose when choosing a college, but the Penn State name did.
“Being able to associate closely with faculty is an important aspect to me and I like the woody atmosphere around the campus,” she said.
Zoe, a political science major and international studies minor, had the opportunity to study abroad for a semester in Australia. While there she not only took classes, but also obtained an internship working for a member of parliament. “This was a wonderful opportunity and I would encourage students of all majors to study abroad,” she said.
Dr. John Gamble, professor of political science, has had the biggest impact on Zoe. “I have worked closely with Dr. Gamble throughout college and he has helped me strengthen my skills in political science,” she said. “Dr. Gamble has also guided me on the process of applying for law schools and has encouraged me to always strive to reach my potential.”
Although Zoe did not play competitively in high school, she has been on the varsity tennis team for her four years here. “I met a lot of awesome people on the team and it helped me to practice with them when classes were stressful,” she said.
