Annemarie Priester
Class of 2008
English, Literature Option
Wattsburg, Pennsylvania
I survived living in the freshman dorm, and to be honest, that’s where I met most of my friends. Living on campus is a way to connect with other students, and makes it easier to access the facilities that Behrend offers.
Life without basketball? Annemarie Priester wouldn’t even consider it.
“I love playing for the women’s basketball team,” said the six-foot forward. “Basketball is such a big part of my life, I couldn’t imagine going to college and not playing.
“The girls on the team are great, and it’s with them that I spend most of my time. Basketball is very demanding and requires both a lot of time management so I can get everything done that I need to.”
When not on the court, you’re likely to find Annemarie in the Lilley Library. “My favorite part of campus is the library. I am constantly there working on class projects, and there is always someone to help me when I can’t figure out how to find a book or use a computer system. It’s the library’s atmosphere that I love the best. It’s almost comforting. It’s also very conducive to studying.”
“After I graduate from Behrend I plan on becoming an English teacher while working my way up to a high school guidance counselor or principal. I’m enrolled in a 4 + 1 teacher education program in which I’ll graduate from Behrend with my degree in English and then enroll at a participating college for one more year to get my teaching certificate. I find this to be an advantage because when I am done with school I will have both an English degree with a literature option and a separate teaching certificate. If I change my mind about teaching, I’ll have that English degree to fall back on.”
