Karla Kaczmarek joined Pennsylvania Sea Grant as a part-time Coastal Outreach Specialist in May 2007. Karla graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Environmental Biology and a minor in GIS.

Karla’s responsibilities include:

• Assisting staff with various GIS based projects, which includes mapping sections of the Presque Isle Bay and Walnut Creek watersheds;
• Assisting in ecological studies related to the coastal areas and tributaries of Lake Erie;
• Provide planning, development, and implementation of educational programs including Environmental Rediscoveries, a shipboard educational program to teach youth about Presque Isle Bay; and
• Organizing and implementing a Clean Marinas Program for Lake Erie marinas in Pennsylvania, including a boat shrink-wrap recycling program.
