Marti Martz graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania's Environmental Studies program in December 2004. She served as a student assistant with Pennsylvania Sea Grant for sixteen months and for seven months as a part-time staff member after graduation, and became a full-time coastal outreach specialist in August 2005. Marti's responsibilities include part-time communicator, acting as a liaison between Sea Grant and the Regional Science Consortium at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, assisting DCNR staff on projects such as aquaponics and the natural history collections at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, working with Mercyhurst College staff on the publication of a 'suggested plant' manual for bluff-front property owners, and helping with the coordination of the Lakes COSEE Great Lakes (Center for Ocean Science Education Excellence Great Lakes) project.

Items to note:

  • Working with Mercyhurst College to revise a manual for land owners dealing with vegetative management of bluffs for erosion and recession control.
  • Developing an electronic version of Keystone Shorelines, the Pennsylvania Sea Grant newsletter.
  • Serves on the Horticulture/Landscape Management Advisory Committee for the City of Erie of the School District.
  • Serves on planning committee which has been created to determine target audiences for a workshop on bluff front best management practices for professionals.
