Eric Obert is the extension director and the associate director for the Lake Erie program area. He has 33 years of combined experience with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission (PFBC), Pennsylvania 's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and Sea Grant. His areas of technical specialty are limnology, lake ecology, and ichthyology. Eric has been with Pennsylvania Sea Grant since May 1998.

• Appointed by Governor as Pennsylvania's sport fishing representative on the Lake Erie Advisory Committee for the Great Lakes Fishery Commission.
• Committee chair of the fish research subcommittee of the Presque Isle Advisory Committee.
• Staged five avian botulism conferences with New York Sea Grant.
• Appointed by Pennsylvania 's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary to Presque Isle State Park Advisory Board.
• Great Lakes Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Panel - Pennsylvania alternate.
• Appointed by the Governor to Pennsylvania 's Invasive Species Council.
• Vice president of the Regional Science Consortium at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center at Presque Isle.
• Member of National Sea Grant's AIS theme team.
