The various awards listed recognize the
significant leadership and service activities of students in support
of the Penn State Behrend Athletics programs and services.
Behrend Lion Spirit Award
This award is given annually to the person who has provided outstanding service by his or her promotion of spirit on campus. The winner is selected by the Athletics staff.
The Richard Dill Outstanding Service Award
This award is given annually to the person who has provided outstanding service as a lay volunteer to the Penn State Behrend athletics program. The winner is nominated and selected by members of the coaching staff.
The Cheryl Ramsdell-Anderson Female Athlete of the Year Award
This award is given annually to the female athlete whose athletic achievement has brought success to her respective teams and favorable recognition to the recipient and Penn State Behrend. The winner is nominated and selected by members of the coaching staff.
The James Frye Male Athlete of the Year Award
This award is given annually to the male athlete whose athletic achievement has brought success to his respective teams and favorable recognition to the recipient and Penn State Behrend. The winner is nominated and selected by members of the coaching staff.
John Zahniser Scholar-Athlete Award
This award is given annually to one male and one female student-athlete who have best combined academic and athletic achievements. To be eligible, a student must have attained at least a fifth semester standing, must have earned a varsity award during the current academic year, and must have earned a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0.
