ACADEMIC ORGANIZATIONS Accounting Club: Helps promote Penn State Behrend's accounting program. This group provides opportunities for students to broaden their knowledge in the field of accounting. Alternative Energy Club: AEC is a way for Behrend students to meet people that have similar interests in clean energy and its uses, and to provide an opportunity to make a difference in the environment and increase awareness of alternative energy. American Foundry Society: Provides student membership with education and information of technology, marketing, management, human resources and research as it rlates to the manufacuring of metal castings. Astronomy Club: Members make use of the new Mehalso Observatory and the college's older observatory to promote interest in astronomy to the campus community. The club also takes trips to other sites such as the Toronto Observatory in Ontario. Biology Club: Seeks to broaden members' knowledge of biology and related fields. In addition to having speakers discuss career opportunities, the club also sponsors educational trips. The club helps enlighten the community about various aspects of the past, present, and future biological world. Chemistry Club : Chemistry Club helps members and the campus community understand the field of chemistry. Club members recently made trips to the Medical Foundation of Buffalo and attended a regional conference at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Delta Sigma Pi: An international business fraternity, which sponsors events, community service projects, and social and athletic activities. Financial Management Association: Assists in the professional, educational, and social development of college students' interested in finance, banking, and investments. Global Business and Society Association: GBS Association seeks to promote, both on campus and in the community, a greater awareness and understanding of increasing globalization and its consequences, better understanding of international cultures and how culture affects international business.
Institute
of Electronics and Electrical Engineers: IEEE provides
members with information about various aspects of electrical
engineering and electronics. The organization hosts successful
professionals to speak to its members about opportunities within
electrical engineering.
Lambda Pi Eta: Lambda Pi Eta
recognizes, fosters, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement in
communication studies; stimulates interest in the field of
communication; promotes and encourages professional development among
communication majors; provides an opportunity to discuss and exchange
ideas in the field of communications.
Management Information Systems Club: The mission of the
Penn State Behrend MIS Club is to provide a solid foundation for the
School of Business students beyond the classroom by encouraging
professional development and increasing exposure to the Management
Information System Industry.
Marketing Club: Affiliated with the
American Marketing Association (AMA), provides students with the
opportunity to expand their resumes and display their creative
marketing attributes. Mathematics Club:
Brings together
students who have a common interest in math. Members meet for problem
sessions, speakers, videotapes, and discussion.
Mechanical
Engineering Club : Provides members with academic support and
various perspectives of the mechanical engineering field. The club
offers lectures on employment opportunities and interviewing skills.
Members also attend regional conferences at which they meet other
professionals in the field.
National Communications Association: A professional and international organization that champions the advancement of students across all communications disciplines. Plastics Engineering Club: The group wil encourage students to become involved with both the local and national sections for the Society of Plastics Engineers, and will provide a greater sense of unity among the Plastics Engineering Technology students, faculty, and other interested parties. Political Science Society: Provides a forum to convene and discuss political matters pertaining to student life. Also investigates possible graduate and law schools and jobs in the nearby area that are of interest to the members and to compile a listing of internships that have been recommended by political science students and professors. Pre-Health Professions Club: Provides Behrend students with the resources for preparation in health related professional studies. Students will work closely with professional advisors. The club will also sponsor a speakers series. Psychology Club: Sponsors events and forums that relate to psychology. The organization has sponsored speakers from the local rape crisis center and recently hosted the daughter of a Nazi concentration camp survivor. Robotics Club: Penn State Behrend Robotics Club was founded to explore nw technologies in the filed of Robotics. The club was intended to work with high school students to improve their knowledge of robotics and Penn State Behrend Engineering.
SAP Student Interest Group: Educates students on the nature of Enterprise Resource Planning products such as Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP).
Society of Automotive Engineers:
provides an opportunity for mechanical engineering students to learn
about automotive engineering through hands-on design and construction
of a Super Mileage vehicle as part of an intercollegiate competition.
Society
of Physics Students : Provides opportunities for students to
meet and discuss physics and related topics. Students recently visited
the Glenn NASA Research Center and the Sandusky Nuclear Power Plant in
Ohio.
Society of Undergraduate Economists: An
academic organization that furthers the understanding of the business
community with an emphasis on economics.
Society of Women Engineers:
Informs the
community of engineering principles and the educational opportunities
available to students. It encourages women engineers to attain high
levels of education and professional achievement.
Spanish Club (Club De Espanol La Pena):
The Club offers an opportunity to continue speaking Spanish outside
the classroom, to build friendships through social activities, and to
experience Spanish culture. Open to all students regardless of
his or her level of Spanish language ability.
